The Fatal Role Of Mario Boffa
The introduction of Mario Boffa into the mix proved to be a catastrophic mistake. Trusted implicitly, it took weeks before I began to doubt his activities and motives, and by then, it was far too late.
Mario Boffa took over the portfolio for several reasons:

To externally and professionally manage daily tasks such as advertising, inquiries, platform management, channel management, bookings, deposits, banking, check-ins and check-outs, refunds, accounting, and guest experience.

To maintain a professional distance from all business aspects, as any mistake could be used to suggest a hidden agenda.

To depersonalize matters, having seen how a Pty business was turned into a personal campaign, misrepresenting him as benefiting personally. In reality, every cent went to the business (portfolio and staff), not profit, which the directors/proprietor took after investing and losing his life savings.

Wouter de Swardt and the consortium planned a second arrest and more

They targeted the remaining half of the portfolio.

Paula Disberry, PVW, Wouter de Swardt, Keith Broad, and IB would continue to attack the business on social media and platforms.

Even without these issues, I preferred to focus on the portfolio’s creativity.
Although the only periods of stability and profitability had been those where I had ultimate control and the only periods where no damage was caused were those where I and control of the bank accounts were in unison, on reflection, the sabotaging of the visa was far more powerful than first envisaged.
Even though I was confident others would not put in the effort and hours needed to make the most of the portfolio’s attention to detail or care as much about the collection or guest experience as I did, I resolved to always contract out all day-to-day functions, at least until a more permanent form of residency was granted. This decision ultimately helped me lose the portfolio, resulted in very mixed results in terms of bookings, and led to multiple attempts to not just ride the gravy train but empty every carriage on that train, including misappropriation of funds, fraudulent invoices and deductions, wild expenses, and petty cash deductions, and ultimately Mario Boffa’s embezzlement.

Bringing Mario Boffa into the business was a critical mistake. Initially trusted, his true motives became clear too late. He was given control to comply with visa rules and handle daily operations, but this decision ultimately led to fraud, misappropriation of funds, and embezzlement.
Mario Boffa’s Introduction
During 2022, I managed the portfolio only in March after the then-agent GB misappropriated funds and submitted and paid fraudulent invoices, which resulted in our acrimonious split, and then for less than a month after Mario Boffa’s sudden departure. In both cases, I found the portfolio thrust upon me.
The question has to be asked: what scammer in their right mind consistently seeks to and does pass their portfolio, including full autonomy, over to others?
Mario was not backward in coming forward, nor was he modest with his immodesty. He told me how perfectly he and the position would fit and how his skill set suited him perfectly.
I had only known Mario Boffa in a social capacity from five years prior and had no reason to doubt him. Mario Boffa was honest about his mental health, admitting he faced extreme challenges, and seemed earnest when telling the story of a tabloid-style news program that focused on salacious gossip and hack journalism. He claimed the program had done a hatchet job on him, airing a segment about his wedding scam business, insisting he had only had issues with a couple of brides and that the whole thing was slanderous nonsense. He blamed everyone from his psychiatrist to his ex-boyfriend. Having never seen the program or even heard of Carte Blanche, I accepted Mario Boffa’s convincing version.
Only later did I discover that Carte Blanche is a well-respected program specializing in investigative journalism and one that researches its subjects thoroughly. They would not have aired a program about just two unhappy customers.
Mario Boffa was keen to gloat about how he had expunged the internet using his skills and paying specialists to remove all traces of the program, confident it would never be seen or found again.
Much else came to light later on, including Mario Boffa’s two dozen bank accounts across half a dozen banks, Ptys and LTD companies set up in half a dozen countries, the truth about the wedding scam, and the number of people who had been scammed in various ways by Mario Boffa.

THE INTRODUCTION
Mario Boffa positioned himself as the perfect fit to manage the portfolio but later proved to be a fraudster with a hidden past. Initially trusted, he took full control, only for mismanagement, financial misconduct, and deception to follow.
He concealed his history, including a wedding scam exposed by Carte Blanche, which he dismissed as slander. Only later did I learn the investigative program was credible, and Boffa had gone to great lengths to erase his digital footprint. His multiple bank accounts and offshore companies further revealed a pattern of fraud.
The Simple Brief
The brief was simple, although by no means easy: select a channel manager to sync diaries across all platforms, reestablish the profiles, ascertain what bookings remained, arrange refunds where due, set up the letting and management operations, and so on.

In August 2022, after leaving Pollsmoor, I returned to a wasteland. The staff had been chased and frightened away by the consortium aided by their friends in SAPS, including the usual lies.
It is impossible to say whether Mario Boffa started with genuine intentions and then changed course or joined, sensing an opportunity for another of his cons. If the former, it is hard to say with any certainty at which point his motives changed, and he began working illegally and solely in his interest.
We do know the timelines: He started at the beginning of September. Things started well with Mario Boffa’s autonomously run agency being formed to let and manage the (now diminished but still highly profitable) portfolio.
Channel managers were appointed, diary systems were set up, and bank accounts and profiles were set up—all in Mario Boffa’s name. Mario Boffa assured me this was merely procedural and temporary.
It was Mario Boffa who suggested hiring a private investigation company (E.S.S) to:
a) prove there was no scam in operation,
b) investigate the consortium and their criminality and expose their lies, and
c) protect me from physical attacks by supplying a bodyguard. Despite pretending to do so and taking large sums from me for doing so, they did the very opposite of all three.
Again, we do not know if it was part of Mario Boffa’s original or subsequent plan or whether ESS started with genuine intent and switched sides. But Paula Disberry and Wouter de Swardt were already well ahead of me. We assume on ESS’s first visit to see Paula Disberry and PVW, Paula Disberry persuaded ESS to work for them while continuing to pretend to work for me. There is speculation about who muted the idea first, as it was thought strange that they had not arranged a meeting.

THE BRIEF
The initial brief was straightforward: manage bookings, sync platforms, and oversee operations. Mario Boffa took control in September 2022, setting up bank accounts and profiles in his name, claiming it was temporary. He then suggested hiring E.S.S., supposedly to disprove scam allegations and provide protection. Instead, he and E.S.S. betrayed me, taking large sums while working with Paula Disberry and Wouter de Swardt. By August 2022, after leaving Pollsmoor, I returned to a destroyed business, with staff driven away by SAPS and the consortium’s lies. Whether Boffa’s intent changed over time or was always fraudulent remains unclear.
The Deceit Begins
Paula Disberry and PVW also created an incentive to convince and motivate ESS and others to get involved and choose sides. They told them a well-rehearsed and well-used lie: there were secret bank accounts in secret locations with millions in deposits. They were clearly held out the prospect of sharing in the bounty when I was imprisoned, and the accounts were identified.
Astonishingly, the lie was born of a suitcase filled with diamonds and cash, hidden somewhere in my principal home. Whatever the source of that rumor about the suitcase of cash and diamonds, it was one ESS (DD, Mr. JS, and ADR as well as Mario Boffa if he was not the source of the lie) believed to be accurate.
Ms. Paula Disberry and her partner, PVW, targeted Mario Boffa personally (as they had targeted every person managing the property before). This included CA, who managed the portfolio from April to August 2022 and was singularly the only one given that responsibility to do it diligently, competently, honestly, and effectively.
PVW was part of the consortium grouping, which had successfully pulled down platforms (making false claims about the properties, including those that did not exist).
Their personal and vindictive campaign was intended to expose and exploit Mario Boffa’s fragile mental health. Information ESS passed on to the consortium advised them on how to attack.
Mario Boffa had moved into 32 FB as long hours and hard work would be needed to rebuild effectively from scratch. It soon became apparent that Mario Boffa had very significant mental health challenges, something he freely admitted. This showed itself at various times and in different ways, including assaulting the housekeeper for burning the chips and the multiple explosions of temper that would result in him leaving for hours or a day or two before returning, contrite.
More alarmingly, I discovered the truth about Mario Boffa’s involvement in running the wedding scam business as part of an investigation program called Carte Blanche.

THE DECIET
Paula Disberry and PVW lured ESS and others with a fabricated story of hidden millions in secret accounts, promising a share of the bounty once I was imprisoned. They targeted Mario Boffa, exploiting his fragile mental health to manipulate him. ESS fed the consortium information on how to pressure and break him down. Boffa’s erratic behavior—violent outbursts, disappearances, and instability—became clear. It was only later that I uncovered Boffa’s role in a wedding scam, exposed by the investigative program Carte Blanche—a truth he had worked hard to erase.
The Suitcase Filled With Diamonds And Cash
Whatever the source of the rumour about the suitcase of cash and diamonds, it was believed to be accurate by Mr de Swardt, Serg Stevens, andEnsure Secure Services(Denis Dalton, Johan Schalkwyk, and Andre Du Rand), as well as Mario Boffa (if he was not the source of the lie).
Whenever I was out of the property, Andre (private security detail) would search a new part of the property in search of the suitcase and other valuables. As the property was enormous, with 30+ rooms over 5 floors and over 20,000 square feet, it was not a small task.
The suitcase of cash and diamonds was another motivation that spurred the plans to drug me to access the laptops and bank accounts, as well as aid in the search. This then developed into the plan to torture me to establish the details of the accounts and the whereabouts of the suitcase, and to dispose of my body after they had done so.
I firmly believe these are the real reasons for the use of the Special Task Force: to aid in finding the safe and the suitcase. If they had found either a safe or a suitcase, I am absolutely certain none of it would have found its way into evidence; rather, it all would have been kept by those involved.
ESS allied with Wouter de Swardt, Paula Disberry, Keith Broad, IB, and PVW, benefiting from the protections, immunities, corruption, and influence. The unhealthy relationship between Wouter de Swardt and several SAPS officers, especially Serg Stevens, meant the only person likely to be investigated and charged was me. The corrupt SAPS officers’ influence led to the persuasion of other SAPS officers.

THE CONSORTIUM
A false rumor of a hidden suitcase filled with cash and diamonds was believed by Wouter de Swardt, SAPS officers, ESS, and Mario Boffa (if not started by him). While I was away, Andre from private security systematically searched the 30+ room estate, determined to find it. The myth fueled plans to drug, torture, and dispose of me to access my bank accounts and force me to reveal the suitcase’s location. The true motive was not justice, but personal greed and corruption. Had they found anything, it would have never entered evidence.
Serg Steven’s Search For The Safe & Suitcase
At the start of the raid/arrest, Serg Stevens instructed the housekeepers to show the officers around the property while I remained in the bedroom/office. There are thirty rooms on the property, and the housekeepers were to show the officers each room. I was not present for any of the search other than that which took place in my bedroom office.
Combined, they tore my home apart. I noticed they were looking for something particular. When I inquired, I was firmly shut down. I observed that the police would go from drawer to drawer and room to room, leaving large swathes of paperwork and files untouched. If this were an arrest for fraud, all would have been taken. So, it was something else they were looking for, and I suspected it was the safe and the suitcase.
Considering Mr. de Swardt and Serg Stevens had flipped the loyalty of the housekeeper a few days before the arrest, telling him of the arrest and asking him to work for the owners once they had arrested me and got me out, the fact he was showing them around must be a breach of protocol. I would have thought I should have been present in each room.
After several hours, as the search ended and nothing had been found, the task force was leaving, and the raid/arrest/operation was being wound down. Mr. de Swardt had the Investigating Officer, Serg Stevens, make up an excuse saying he now needed me to show him each room. I thought this very strange as they had all been in every room by then. I suggested we take the lift to the kitchen and start from there. Serg Stevens disagreed and said to start with the master bedroom, where he took me, unaccompanied by anyone else.
But he took me to the master bedroom only. When we arrived, Mr. de Swardt and Denis Dalton were waiting in the room and asked, “Where is the safe?” To which I replied, “What safe?” Mr. de Swardt said, “The one behind the false wall.” I replied, “You’re in the wrong property, that’s Hove Road.” Mr. de Swardt and Denis Dalton were noticeably disappointed and angry. Denis Dalton had spent a full month searching for the safe via his employee, who was my security detail during that time.
It was the safe and its contents that were the real purpose of the search and the task force.
When I said there was no safe, Serg Stevens then took me directly to the guest apartment at the front of the building. When I asked why we weren’t doing the room-to-room search as he had instructed, he said, “Never mind about that now.”
I found it very strange that Mr. de Swardt was even at the raid and arrest, let alone leading it. I was deeply shocked that Wouter de Swardt and Denis Dalton were walking around my home as if they owned it, with the police deferring to their ‘authority.’ Most shocking was that one of the men standing in my bedroom, clearly enjoying my humiliation, was the man who just a few weeks earlier had stolen over a million rand from me, set up a scam agency defrauding people by using my properties, and planned to torture, murder, and replace the me
I was even more shocked to be in a room with only Mr. de Swardt, Serg Stevens, and Denis Dalton. It was very sinister.

THE CONSORTIUM
During the raid/arrest, Serg Stevens had housekeepers lead officers through my home while I was confined to my room. Despite searching 30 rooms, they ignored key documents, clearly looking for something specific. Later, Stevens insisted I personally show him each room but instead led me straight to the master bedroom, where Wouter de Swardt and Denis Dalton were waiting. They demanded to know, "Where is the safe?" Stevens abruptly ended the search. It became clear the raid’s true purpose was to find and seize valuables, not evidence of fraud.
The Unholy Alliance
ESS allied with Wouter de Swardt, Paula Disberry, Keith Broad, IB, and PVW, benefiting from the protections, immunities, corruption, and influence. The unhealthy relationship between Wouter de Swardt and several SAPS officers meant the only person likely to be investigated and charged was me. The influence of the corrupt SAPS officers, who in turn persuaded others within SAPS, was significant.
Control and influence over local police stations denied any route for complaint or criminal conduct investigation. The consortium had substantial reserves to attack me and deflect attention.
The Embezzlement
The precise point when Mario Boffa began working for and with ESS and against me is uncertain. We estimate very early October, if not immediately and possibly even before their formal appointment. What is certain is that they embezzled circa a million Rand, in a plan Mario Boffa later confessed to, whereby any and all money coming in (from deposits or rent) was transferred immediately to ESS.
Having been embezzling for around three weeks, they suddenly left. It was not until they left that I discovered what they had been doing.
Before that, whenever I asked if there was any money, Mario Boffa replied with comments on the account balance. Craftily answering the question factually, saying “there is nothing in the account,” Mario Boffa omitted that X thousand or X hundred thousand had been received but immediately sent to ESS.
ESS would later try to justify the transfers as payment of fees. Still, as fees had been agreed at R200k, to be paid as it could be afforded and factoring in the many other important obligations, many of which were far more critical and of greater priority, the fact that hundreds of thousands were transferred in just 2-3 weeks, with nothing put aside towards rent, utilities, repairs, and wages, shows this for the lie that it is.
In reality, if they had switched sides, as we know they did, and worked for the consortium, they would have been due absolutely no fees whatsoever

THE EMBEZZLEMENT
Mario Boffa began diverting funds to ESS as early as October 2022, possibly before their formal appointment. Over three weeks, they embezzled nearly R1 million, funneling all deposits and rent payments directly to ESS. Boffa deceptively reported empty account balances, omitting that large sums had come in and were immediately transferred out. ESS later claimed the money was for "fees", but their agreed R200k payment was far exceeded, leaving nothing for rent, wages, or utilities. This was not a fee dispute, ESS had switched sides, working for the consortium while draining the business dry
The Deception & The Greed
ESS had the nerve to charge me for a “bodyguard” to protect me from Wouter de Swardt and the consortium, who was doing nothing of the sort and, in fact, working for the consortium. ESS searched my office and accessed my laptop whenever I was away from the office or bedroom.
It was the bodyguard, ADR, who had taken my passport from me after the sabotaged appointment at the VFS lounge to extend my visa to hand to ESS and Wouter de Swardt and onto Paula Disberry and PVW.
The bodyguard planted the listening devices and reported to the ESS/consortium daily.
It was the bodyguard who was vital in using the various plans, which included their plans to drug, torture, and murder me.
If, on the other hand, their client was Mario, then the same would apply in that they did nothing to protect his interests or undertake an investigation as contracted.
And if the client was Mario’s, then they were telling him to transfer money to them they knew did not belong to him, knew was from guest payments, knew those payments were for stays at the property, and knew that when their embezzlement was discovered, those guests would not get their stays regardless.
Just as they knew that diverting the payment to them would result in the collapse of the portfolio, resulting in no property for those guests to stay at.
However, they may try to cover their crimes after the fact, nothing changes that fundamental dynamic. Who was the client? DR or Mario Boffa or Wouter de Swardt or Paula Disberry? As private investigators, there can only be one client. And only one client it is legal to take money from. When they decide who the client was (as that changes with who asks them), they would need to justify taking money pre-pressuring others to pay them money.

DECEPTION & GREED
ESS posed as protectors while secretly working for the consortium, charging for a “bodyguard” who instead:
✔ Searched my office and laptop when I wasn’t there.
✔ Planted listening devices and reported back to ESS.
✔ Stole my passport, handing it to Wouter de Swardt, Paula Disberry, and PVW.
✔ Was key to plans of drugging, torture, and murder.
ESS also pressured Mario Boffa to transfer guest payments to them, knowing it would collapse the business and leave guests stranded. As private investigators, they could legally have only one client—yet they took money from multiple sides, manipulating everyone for their own gain.
The Confession
Mario Boffa returned three days later to “confess” his role and produce evidence supporting his confession. Essentially, they had a particular plan to embezzle R1.2 million in three weeks and then leave on what they called “exit day.”
Although Mario Boffa justified his crucial role by saying he was pressured into it with a mixture of threats, incentives, and the promise to keep him from prison, which should he refuse, he claimed he was told was a certainty.
However, rather than a return to confess and make amends, it appears to have been a cynical ploy to get a second bite of the cherry.
One thing I had learned from Mario Boffa was his obsession with recording everything. I was so shocked by the revelations that I secretly recorded many of them.
Initially, because the confessions were so extreme, I doubted anyone would believe Mario Boffa or me in the retelling. However, as the days progressed, I doubted Mario Boffa’s justification for his role.
The Scam They Set Up
After leaving, with some sinister irony, they went on to construct a scam operation in the image of the one the consortium had accused me of, whereby they advertised properties they did not have or have any right to let (choosing to promote my properties without my permission), with no intention or ability to ever deliver on any of the bookings. As soon as I discovered the scam, the attorney LH sent an email demanding they cease. Despite the demands that they stop, they continued taking hundreds of thousands and possibly millions in bookings, knowing that they could never honor them.
When guests began to discover what had happened as planned, they blamed me.
On discovering this, I reported the fraud to the various Mario Boffa banks. We believe the accounts were frozen but are unaware of how matters progressed after that.

THE SET UP SCAM
They ran a scam, advertising my properties without permission and taking bookings they couldn’t fulfill. Despite demands to stop, they continued, collecting large sums. When guests found out, they blamed me. I reported it to the banks, and while accounts were frozen, the outcome remains unknown.
Their Premeditated Deception
As an indication of how well they had considered their actions and plans, they had already planned what they would do when discovered.
Discovery was an inevitability. One of the fundamental flaws in the scam narrative was that a villa scam can only last as long as it takes for the first guest to realize they have been scammed. Whether that be when the first guest turns up to check in and finds they have no villa or is alerted in any way beforehand. Where a scammer is booking stays with the first starting a year into the future, they could have a year to continue scamming. Although unlikely, as those guests booking would soon smell a rat. But where bookings are for stays that begin in a month or two, that period very quickly passes, and they are faced with their first check-in and thereby discovery.
Discovery results in the platforms being pulled down, bank investigations, credit card investigations, account freezes, etc.

To help deflect attention from them and in a cynical but clever ploy to be able to obviate responsibility, they would point guests whom they had defrauded in my direction. They left the reader with no doubt that I was an international criminal of note whose specialty was villa scams and who had earned R34 million from such villa scams.

PREMEDITATED DECEPTION
They knew discovery was inevitable, so they preemptively set me up as the scapegoat. Mario Boffa’s petition and Wouter de Swardt’s false press leaks ensured News24 framed me as the criminal. When the scam collapsed, they simply redirected angry victims to me.
Mario Boffa’s Petition Created to Deflect
When guests began to discover Mario Boffa and ESS had defrauded them, this is precisely what they did: They told the guests that I had their money, pointed at the petition and the News24 articles, and told the guests that they stood no chance of recovery. All so that they could maintain the scam longer, and they hoped, get away with it.
If I could be imprisoned and charged with fraud, that could only enhance their diversionary tactics. What better way to deflect scammed guests than by pointing to the scammer in prison on fraud charges for scamming guests? Pushing them to give up on recovery.
If my bail application failed and I could be kept in Pollsmoor indefinitely, my funds exhausted, they would likely get away with it entirely.
This was also the logic of the murder conspiracy. After all, if the scammer vanished, it would be easy to spread the rumor that he had run away to spend his R34 million: no body, no murder investigation, no one to mourn or miss the scammer.
Not content with either the embezzlement or the scam cloned from the myth, Mario Boffa then applied for a protection order. The application form reads like the fantasy of a deranged man. Again, attempting to rewrite history to cover their tracks.

MARIO BOFFA'S PETITION
Mario Boffa and ESS deflected blame by pointing scammed guests to the petition, News24 articles, and false claims that I had their money. If I were imprisoned or even killed, it would solidify their deception—no one to defend the truth, no one to recover losses, and no murder investigation.
The Petition
The success of the prevailing narrative created by Wouter de Swardt, Keith Broad, and Paula Disberry, and those who collaborated with her or followed her, provided a ready-made basis for further expansion.
Several newspaper articles, fed by Wouter de Swardt to ruin me and establish the lies about me running a sham villa business, were published between August and February.
The aim was to create the impression of a weight of evidence that came from various and independent sources. In reality, the sources were all the same.
To assist and play his part, Mario Boffa published a petition that included and referred to these articles as if they were facts. The petition purported to be aimed at “stopping the scammer.” It was drafted and published simultaneously by Mario Boffa, JS, DD, et al.
At the same time, they were busy creating a scam and sham villa enterprise. A scam that was constructed in the very image of what I was being accused of.
The petition and other diversionary tactics were premeditated attempts to escape blame. When guests found out Mario Boffa and ESS had scammed them, they would have the articles, the petition, etc., to point to and underpin the accusations that I had scammed them. After all, the bookings were being taken on my property. What better way to run a scam than to set it up on the properties of the person already publicly accused of running such a scam business from precisely the same properties? Who would not swallow a lie with so many references pointing the guest could be directed towards?
Despite signals and evidence suggesting there were no hidden accounts and no backup or reserve funds, Mario Boffa and ESS persisted with their plan.

THE PETITION
Wouter de Swardt, Keith Broad, and Paula Disberry created a false narrative, reinforced by media articles, to frame me as a villa scammer. Mario Boffa’s petition then cited these articles as “proof” while he and his associates ran an actual scam using my properties. When guests realized they were defrauded, the petition and articles served as a cover, directing blame toward me instead of the real culprits.
Theft Of The Replacement Passport
As a result of the campaign, the corruption, the abysmal performance by my attorneys, the David and Goliath odds, and the fact that I knew they were far from finished, I approached the British Embassy for assistance.
They offered assistance in various ways, including an emergency passport replacement. However, I declined that offer as I wished to extend my visa rather than leave SA.
Drugging, Torture & Murder
Throughout the period between arrests, Paula Disberry, PVW, Wouter de Swardt, Mario Boffa, etc., and later, RM constantly interfered with the operation, using ESS to access information, poach guests, and dissuade others from turning up or cancelling.
The plan hatched by JS and DD of ESS alongside Mario Boffa and ADR involved drugging me with sleeping pills and transferring the contents of my bank accounts to themselves using the OTPs sent to my phone. However, the plan had flaws, such as identifying which accounts were held first, where they were, the account numbers, and any related apps. Plus, the theft would be reported as soon as I woke up.
The plan was changed instead, opting to torture me to get all the necessary information and then murder me to prevent me from going to the police afterwards. Disposing of my body and putting. Mario Boffa in my place. JS and DD were very relaxed about their plan, reassuring Mario Boffa they knew what to do and how to do it and had done it before.
Their new alliance gives them additional protection from investigation or prosecution.
Chance intervened, but they were unable to carry this out.
