HK: Because you look at, you look at the doors, how the doors were smashed, almost each and every door was broken in two like, and the guy, Clement’s brother was like, he heard some like, uh, What some, not bombs, but what you call it, the, these, these things that they saw to make some noise. I don't know what to call them.
DR: Who, who's this? The police.
HK: Some blast. Okay. He had some blast. I don't know, maybe he was hearing them hitting the doors or what, but he said I had a lot of blast, you know, almost each and every room. So,
DR: Yeah, I, yeah, that's, that's all I could hear from upstairs was, was, was blasts.
HK: Yeah. It was like he saw some of the officers, the way they entered the house, some of them climbed the walls with the, I don't know, you know, those kind of like swat tactics. So, the things that we see in movies. So, I was like, yo, because I was trying to explain to him like, you know, they had to grab me by the belt, like, ah, I like you because for us, some of us, We were so under the cloud, this and that.

HK: Mm-hmm. Yeah. So that's my recollection. That's my, that's everything that I remember about the whole deal. Um, it was so traumatizing to me, you know, seeing the police, you know, I'm a law-abiding citizen. So, seeing the police, you're like, what did I do? You know? Um.
DR: But you said that they never, they never actually charged you with anything.
They told you; you were arrested. They didn't tell you what for but moved you to Fisherman's where they did the mugshots, but then they let you go. So, they ne they never actually gave you a, a crime that you're supposed to committed.
HK: Exactly. I was at, I didn’t understand I was told that I'm under, that's why they took me, uh, to, to Fisherman.

DR: Did you see when, after I left, did you see Wouter with the keys for Liermans? Because I mean, he must have, who did he get the keys from?
HK: Wouter, Wouter, had the keys.

HK: All the time. Because he is the one who opened us open for us when we, we wanted to get our things from him.
DR: Oh, maybe it was Fisherman's Keys, then he gave to Wouter, um,

DR: Yeah. So Wouter took the Lierman's keys from you?
HK: Yes. He, he took [THE Leirmans KEYS] from me.

DR: Wow. Okay. Um, what was I gonna say? And basically, as soon as they moved in, they obviously planned it was because they, they knew exactly what they were gonna do in terms of changing stuff.
DR: You said that they took loads of stuff from upstairs and threw it down in the garage.
HK: There was broken stuff and then there was loads of stuff put on the street.
DR: And anybody that wanted it can just take it, this is all my stuff, I assume. Well, everything in it was mine.
HK: Whatever that they didn't like it was put. Okay.
HK: They, there were some other things that typically it was your personal belongings.

HK: The other two rooms, we put things that were supposed to be put there and some books, some boxes.
HK: The rest of the furniture was put on the open, [sneezing] uh, space. Whatever that they didn't like was put there.
DR: So, the garage was full, full of stuff.
HK: It was very, very full, very, very full. There was even, Not even a space to, you wouldn't walk from there to there. It was full.
HK: We just created a space to walk from the other end as we go up the stairs to the stairway and to the walk, to the hallway.
HK: That's where your dog’s where also kept during all this time that I was there.

HK: And that's another, that's another story with the dogs, to be honest. They were ah, they were kept in, they, they were not taking good care of as you used to do, Because I, I, I, I felt so sorry for the dogs. I felt so sorry for the dogs.

DR: No, when Jess picked up the dogs and just the dogs were there for two or three weeks before, because Jess came in. Jess said she came because she'd heard that the dogs were distressed, but, well, Clement didn't call her and the owners didn't say, can we do something with these dogs? It was literally Jess that went to rescue them.
HK: Uh, to get, to take everything that was thrown outside. And, um, this included, uh, the furniture, which was in Clement's bedroom because they, they had told him that they will replace everything. So, Clement threw away all the furniture, which was in his room.
HK: Except the bed and mattress, which was kept at, uh, the house that we rented. He said he's gonna come and take it later. The couch, uh, he sent it to, to Macy's place.
HK: So, everyone walking on the street, or even the guys that we doing some renovations to the next door, to the next house. And to your neighbours, they were, you know, this house, which was being you renovated, I think into a hotel or something else.
HK: So, the guys that were working there were even given a chance to come and, uh, and take what they liked.
HK: That is from the things that we were found outside the, the garage.
HK: So, some guys took some furniture, some wood, some glasses, some cups, some flower cups, you know.
HK: Some boxes. I, for one, I also took some, some, uh, some Drawers that were thrown out. Um, I had to pay the bakkie guys that when he is going to, to throw the junk away, he can pass by the house and Drop the, the Drawers.

DR: Um, and oh, and then you went, so the last time you saw Leirmans was when Wouter took you back to get your stuff and then do the fake filming of the, sorry, the filming of the fake leaving. That was the last time you saw Lehman's until we went back in. Oh no, that was, yeah. That was the last time you saw Liermans.
HK: That's not true.
DR: Because we, um, I'm just trying to think because you sent me, you sent me those photos because when we went back in, all the plants were dead. The grass was like two feet high.
HK: The grass was like brown, bad, bad damaged,
DR: The inside was damaged. Ground.
HK: After we came back, I remember you bought this organo boost fertilized or some sort of, you, you we did. You didn’t. Put a lot of stuff and the glass came up. By the time they were arresting us, the glass was green. You remember you asked me to take some photos that I sent you?

HK: You can even call. You can't even call. You know, remember those guys? There, there was this coloured, young guy who also came to help us painting. Uh.
DR: Who was that?
HK: There was this other guy you invite, you, you came over to, to, to fix the light by the, by the pool side.
DR: The, I, I booked to somebody else booked?
HK: Yeah. Because He can attest to how the how good house was.
DR: Which, who was that? Remind me. Because there's know stuff that happened before the arrest me is a, is a blur. There were the guys I hired to do the carpet cleaning. There was the upholstery cleaning. There was the pool pump.
HK: Yes. And upholstery for upholstery cleaning guy. I think I still have the, the number of the carpet.
DR: Is it Jeffrey? Jeffrey was the upholstery cleaning guy. Because I've got,
HK: There was another,
DR: yeah, go on. Sorry.
HK: There was another colored guy who came for electric. He was, he, he [muffled sound].
DR: He was what?
HK: But I don't know his name. I forgotten it.
DR: who was, how old was he? Um, I'm trying to think who that was? Um, I'm trying to think who that was. What, what electrics was he doing? The lights?
HK: The lights. The lights. They, they, those, uh oh,
DR: Or the backup battery or something as well. And the jacuzzi,
HK: The battery backup was another guy who seemed to have, uh, a big company who was really professional, professional. He came for to check up, or a battery or, I don't know.
We had this, we had another problem, electrical problem.
I think the switch was somehow stuck or damaged. So, he came to fix it. He didn't take time.
DR: Yeah. Yeah.
HK: That was another guy. But there was another colored guy who used to come for minor manual repairs.
He also worked at Fisherman for, for the lights in the stairway.

HK: Yeah. If my memory serves me right. I think it was four police officers.
HK: Who came on their van. Wouter came on his personal vehicle, the white Discovery for Land Rover.
DR: Mm-hmm. You said 'cause one, you said one of them was Afrikaans White and a beer belly. 'cause that sounds exactly like one of the guys that arrested me back in August. Um, in his fifties, I think. Uh, white.
HK: Yes.
HK: One guy. Okay. The guy that came to Leirmans one, one was an off-duty police officer. He. He was in plain clothes, he was in shorts, I think in the shorts. Uh, he was white and Afrikaans. The others were black. I still remember the face of one officer. [Later identified as Denis Dalton]
DR: So, say that again. There was four. One was plain clothes with the shorts and white and the others were in uniform.
HK: And the three were in uniforms. But black.
HK: Yes. Because I remember one was white and uh, Afrikaans.

DR: Mm-hmm. And I was gonna ask the time that you were there, did nobody knock on the door as a guest expecting to, to check in because you were there? If I was arrested in the middle of December, then you would've been there the busiest two weeks of the year. Was there nobody that, like, because I know they put notes on the outside of the property, didn't they, saying that, um, if your guests and your booked to stay here, you've been scammed, but did nobody turn up when you were there?
HK: Uh, no. Nobody came by the door saying that they, they, they're supposed to, to check in or whatsoever? No. Mm, no. Not, not at Leirmans.
DR: Or No. But that, um, when you were working at Fisherman's,
HK: At Fisherman?
DR: Mm-hmm.
HK: Uh, before I moved to Leirmans? No, no. Nobody came there.
DR: And the two weeks that you were working there. 'cause you were there all day.
HK: Mm-hmm.
DR: Um, Nobody because, because people were booked to come and have their holidays there. So, it's weird that nobody, um, uh, that nobody at all because also…
HK: No, by, by the time I was at Fisherman, uh, I've encountered with a number of guests there. I remember this other Americans, uh, some of them I remember he gave me a good tip of, oh, that was $40 each other, a black, black American. But by the time I was there, we never had someone knocking that I'm supposed to be here.

HK: Even after I got arrested.

HK: As we were working there. No, no one came Um, you know what, I was supposed to check in here.
No. Maybe if, even if they came, because there was a poster that Mr. Wouter put on, on the, on the premises that if he, if he ever happened to come here to check in, know that he come the, the guy who was doing this is arrested, now the house is closed.
That was the message on the poster.
DR: Yeah. 'cause when I went past in March or April, it was still on there and on Liermans that poster with his number on it, um,
HK: Oh yeah, sure.
DR: Yeah. No, I knew that the, no, I mean, no get, nobody turned up before the arrest expecting a stay.
But I just thought after the arrest, that's peak period.
So, there should have been people, well, at least one or two, um, expecting a holiday.
I was just curious 'cause I thought I would be like an interesting thing to see how that lady reacts because by having me arrested and moving in, However many people were booked to stay there, that she ruined their holiday.
Uh, but so I was curious if people turned up and she was, she didn't care. I mean, obviously she didn't care, She didn't care about me or the dogs, but, um, I thought at least some people would turn up. Um, but So you didn't, you never really interacted with the guy at all? He was an always upstairs working. It was just her instructing whatever changes she wanted done to the property.

DR: So what interests me is how quick, so Ra Raggi turns up literally minutes after I'm arrested, and then the others come 15 minutes later, 15 minutes later, 15 minutes later.
DR: So, they were all, they all knew that they were coming for a meeting that day, long before. It was not like they suddenly reacted to me being arrested, that that was all planned and in the pipeline.
HK: Yeah. From what I noticed there was meeting signed up, the lady that they again, sit down after everything else.
HK: I, I'm saying, my assumption is they had already, they, they had a, they had arranged for a meeting after everything and, uh, uh, and, and uh, happened, uh, because we looked at how this guy came.
HK: Somebody can tell that, uh, they planned the meeting after everything.
DR: Yeah, So they planned the meeting before the arrest. 'cause they knew the arrest was gonna happen is what I mean.
HK: Yes, I suppose so. I suppose so.

HK: Uh, like, I don't know what you meant by never coming back. Is it in the house or maybe out of jail? I don't know.

To be honest. I found out that someone, things never, um, went in an honest, uh, manner.
